Twentieth-Century Fox releases first image of Hugh Jackman in Gavin Hood's Wolverine spin-off.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a title that has been sliding under the radar as of late with so much buzz swirling around other high-profile superhero films such as The Dark Knight and Iron Man. Twentieth-Century Fox wants to change all that and took a step in the right direction today by showing off the first picture from their upcoming mutant spin-off.
The picture has a grittier and edgier look at the character of Wolverine than we've seen previously on film. He looks rough and uncontrollable, like an untamed beast. Releasing this picture is a very deliberate move on Fox's part and let's hope this image shows how Wolverine will be portrayed in the film.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is scheduled for a May 2009 release.
What do you guys think of this image? Can director Gavin Hood and Fox pull out all the stops and give us a meaner Wolverine? Post a comment.
Cheers.

cool. let's hope the movie is rated R.
I doubt Fox will ever make an R-rated Wolverine simply because of all the sales lost from children unable to attend the film. Wolverine is one of Marvel's top heroes and has a huge younger audience that wouldn't be able to watch it if it was rated R.
One can dream though, I'd love to see an R-rated Wolvie.
What do I think of the picture?
"He looks rough and uncontrollable, like an untamed beast."
Yea, yea that's right.
