Star Wars USB Flash Drives

These are sweet.

Flash drives are some of the most boring gadgets. They are often a plain, solid colour and feature nothing more than a company name or logo as eye candy. Mimoco has taken steps to change all that with some uber-cool Star Wars licensed designer USB flash drives.



Mimoco has already released a successful first wave of the drives and a second has just hit shelves. The Vader, R2-D2, Chewie, and Stormtrooper drives from series 1 will be followed up by Han, Leia, Luke, and Boba Fett in series 2. To top it all off, each drive comes preloaded with bonus content such as wallpapers, icons, and sound effects accessible on both a Mac and PC. The drives ship in 1gb, 2gb, and 4gb capacities. These are pretty sweet and could start an awesome trend. I'd love to get my hands on some licensed USB drives to add some personality to data storage. What do you guys think of these? UPDATE: Apparently Mimoco also has a line of Halo Flash drives. While they aren't as well done as the Star Wars drives they are still pretty sweet. You can check them out HERE.

Star Wars Headed Back to the Big Screen

Lucasfilm Animation has 22 episodes ready and an animated feature to kick things into gear.

It looks as if Star Wars is headed back to the silver screen. It's true, and no, it won't be live action. Instead George Lucas and his crew at Lucasfilm Animation will release a fully computer-animated feature titled Star Wars: The Clone Wars followed by 22 already completed 30-minute episodes.

The show will be labeled an expansion and will follow key concepts introduced during 2003's Cartoon Network show Star Wars: Clone Wars. Set during the three year period known as the Clone Wars it will explore the good side of Anakin's character and Obi-Wan's relationship with the young apprentice.



This should be really sweet. George Lucas has a chance to re-establish the Star Wars Universe in a different medium and take his time with things over the course of the show. The focus should be on fun, great visuals, and great storytelling. Hopefully that's what we get.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will hit theatres in the summer leading the way for the show to kick off in the autumn. It will air on The Cartoon Network and later hit cable's TNT.

Mighty Muggs are Sweet

Hasbro has hit the jackpot with their vinyl statues.

I was picking up my comics last week at Pow when I saw the shop had gotten in some sweet new Star Wars vinyl figs called Mighty Muggs. The statues are five inches tall and feature a very smooth and curved artistic style with a big round head on each one. Pow was selling Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Han Solo, and Chewie but hadn't yet received Darth Maul or Stormtrooper figures. I bought Fett and later returned to buy Vader and they are both proudly displayed on my desk at home as I'm typing this. The statues look great side-by-side. I'm not that big of a Star Wars fan yet I couldn't resist picking these guys up.



Now, after doing some detective work online it appears that Hasbro has more in store for their Mighty Muggs line. Star Wars Wave 2 will be released next month and feature the likes of Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Episode 2), Mace Windu, and C-3P0. I've got to pick up 3P0 as he looks awesome.

Also, Hasbro is bringing out a line of Mighty Muggs based on your favourite Marvel Legends due out in March. The first wave features Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, and a super sweet looking Venom. I've also seen pictures from SDCC 2007 of a The Thing Mighty Mugg, maybe he's being kept for Wave 2.



Hasbro's Might Muggs are great. They are affordable at $15 a pop (Canadian) and are small enough to display almost everywhere. I can't wait for the Marvel Legends Mighty Muggs and Star Wars Wave 2 should be pretty cool as well.
